Help:Editing
From RemObjects Wiki
This is a Wiki Help Topic
Provides help on using the RemObjects Wiki itself
The RemObjects Wiki content will mostly be provided by RemObjects staff but we welcome any contributions from customers, however small.
In order to edit, you need to login first and be aware of our policies for copyrights and privacy.
How to Practise
If this is the first time you have edited a wiki, you might like to practise first:
- Use the Sandbox page, which is a general temporary page for use by all. Its contents will vary depending on use by others. Don't place anything there you wish to keep!
- Make use of your user page. When you are logged in, you will see a link to your username at the top of the page. Make use of this as you wish, e.g. as a scratch pad or a list of favorite pages. The only time other users are likely to touch your page is to correct links (e.g. when pages get moved).
- See Formatting to get ideas on how to present your information.
Editing Guidelines
- review Wiki Structure and, in particular, the section on pages under construction.
- review Page Creation and Page Updating. These pages explain how we shield you from the intricacies of indexing and categorizing.
What to Edit
Logged in users are able to edit most pages, but you will find some are protected and can only be edited by sysops. Protected pages include templates, categories, help and some index pages.
As well as the protected pages, there are also work in progress pages, which you should avoid if you didn't set that status yourself.
With the above restrictions in mind, edit whichever pages you want. One big advantage of the wiki format is that there is no big overhead in starting to edit. See an error, fix the error and move on – it only takes seconds.
There are some pages though where your input will be most appreciated - see How to Help.
